30TH STREET POST OFFICE
Wm Proud Masonry Restoration completed the Historic Facade Restoration of the former Post Office building at 30th and Market streets. We performed the exterior masonry restoration and cleaning of the limestone, brick and granite. SERVICES
Construction for the historic 30th Street Post Office in University City, Philadelphia began in 1932. The original cost was $4.5 million and opened in April of 1935. The notable scrolls and carvings located in and around the building were inspired by ancient Mayan and Incan cultures. Between 1935 and 1940, a heliport was utilized on the rooftop to fly mail and packages back and forth from Camden, NJ. Wm Proud Masonry Restoration was honored to be part of this Historical Restoration project on one of Philadelphia, PA's most remarkable landmarks. |
